I read in the
Savannah Morning News today about the Army Core of Engineer's environmental assessment of deepening the Savannah Harbor to let bigger ships into the area.
The report cites numerous potential environmental hazards in deepening the harbor, from harm to wildlife to aquifer problems to erosion to changing the chemical make-up of the water in the surrounding area. There is also a boatload of federal and state regulations to abide by if this is going to happen.
